About

Sharon Barraclough

Hello, I’m Sharon

I’m the founder of North & Done. For 30 years I’ve worked inside big businesses, leading brand, growth and transformation from the inside: running teams, owning the numbers, making the messy calls.

What I’ve learned is that most change doesn’t stall because the strategy is wrong. It stalls because no one owns the how. That’s where I come in. I bring clarity to the problem, build the capability to deliver it, and get people behind it, so progress is visible early and lasts.

Practical, people-centred and, as a Northerner, fairly allergic to waffle.

Where I’ve worked

  • PepsiCo: designed the organisation for around 1,200 marketing and insights people across Europe, built the Europe marketing capability programme; earlier, UK Snacks Marketing Director and Premium Brands Director (Sensations, Gourmet)
  • Hovis: Marketing Director through the business’s turnaround; a £5m recipe investment won share and Product of the Year 2017
  • Mars: European Brand Director for Celebrations (€150m), saving €8m and adding 6 margin points in three years
  • O2: created the brand strategy that moved O2 from telco to digital lifestyle brand
  • RHM Manor Bakeries: brought Mr Kipling back into growth
  • Reckitt: marketing roles up to Marketing Manager on Airwick and Vanish

Today I work with marketing teams across food and drink, consumer goods, media, pharma and consumer tech: directly through North & Done, and as an associate of LockSmith and Gate One.

What people say about how I work

  • Clear, but not intimidating
  • Challenging, but supportive
  • Practical, not theoretical
  • Serious about outcomes, without taking myself too seriously

I bring energy, optimism and momentum when things feel stuck.

Away from work

You’ll find me baking bread, tending my fruit and veg patch, or walking Marley, my Spanish Water Dog.
